In America, we are transitioning from one kind of energy to another. This is not a political statement, it’s simply about the energy driving our country’s leadership. We are moving from Trump’s fear-based energy of divisiveness and exclusion to Biden’s more amare energy of unification and inclusion.
It’s like a business shifting from the fighting and separating energy of the “business as war” paradigm to the uplifting and connecting energy of the “business as love” paradigm. Some will embrace the change, some will resist it. In the spirit of compassion, we need to acknowledge that a paradigm shift changes the status quo, and that is hard for a lot of people. The key is finding and growing what unites us.

Four Amare Ways to Promote Unity
- Resist gloating. It’s tempting for the winning team to gloat – especially after such a rancorous contest like this election. Watch out for that urge and instead show compassion. Remember what it feels like to be on the other side.
- Celebrate differences. Remind your people that your organization celebrates diversity. Show it by having safe and honest conversations with people with opposing viewpoints and see what common ground you have in your goals.
- Model vulnerability. Now is the time to show that it’s okay to bring your whole self to work. That means exposing and owning your flaws and encouraging others to do the same.
- Keep healthy boundaries. Unifying people within an organization does not mean that anything goes. Be clear and respect boundaries around what is and is not appropriate and acceptable behavior in your company.
