Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu
May all beings be happy and free.
Simple. Powerful. Transformative.
Now pause and really ask yourself: Do you want that?
For all beings—including your team, your customers, your partners, even your competitors?
Even for yourself?
What’s the Truth?
Most of us love the idea of universal happiness and freedom. But living that way—especially in business—can be challenging. We get caught up in scarcity thinking. Fear. Ego. The illusion that success must come at someone else’s expense.
But here’s the radical truth:
You can lead a thriving organization and create more happiness and freedom—for everyone involved.
That’s the promise of the Amare Way: leading with love in business.
Not sentimentality, but real, grounded love—expressed through purpose, alignment, connection, and care.
It starts with intention. And it continues with action.
6 Ways to Make Happiness & Freedom Core to Your Business
1. Check Your “Enough” Level. On a scale from 0 (total scarcity) to 10 (overflowing abundance), where are you right now? Where’s your organization?
Our inner sense of “enoughness” deeply affects how we lead.
2. Notice what stories you make up. Consider if you hoard resources or share them. Compete or collaborate. Pay attention to the stories you tell yourself about what might happen when everyone thrives.
3. Clarify and Share Your Higher Purpose. State why does your business exist beyond making money. Say it out loud. Write it down. Ask your team, your clients, your community if it resonates with them.
If your purpose doesn’t light people up—or no one can remember what it is—it might be time to recalibrate.
4. Balance Self and Collective. A business that only serves itself is hollow. One that only serves others burns out. Meaning lives in the balance.
Talk with your team about what your needs are as an organization, what your various stakeholders need. Find the win-win. This alignment creates sustainable energy, clarity, and culture.
5. Practice Micro-Freedom & Micro-Joy. Big changes start small. List two tiny things you can do each day that brings you happiness or a sense of freedom. Maybe it’s a five-minute walk in the morning, a deep breath before a meeting, or saying no to something that doesn’t serve you. Small actions shift energy—and over time, they shift your business.
6. Make It Measurable. We measure what matters. So if happiness and freedom matter, build them into your metrics. Explicitly define and share them as core values. Find ways to track and celebrate progress—just like you would with revenue or growth.
The Bigger Picture: Bold Leadership
Building a business that supports happiness and freedom isn’t naive—it’s bold. It’s a deep commitment to doing business with love, the heart of the Amare Way.
Often added to that chanted prayer I shared above, is this powerful intention:
May my thoughts, words, and actions contribute in some way to the happiness and freedom of all.
